Profile

Amy Barkley

LPCC, LMHC

Therapist

Amy Barkley is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Minnesota and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida. Amy has worked as a therapist at the Emily Program for the past 6 years, with 5 years spent leading the virtual A.M. IOP. Amy entered the field of eating disorders after completing her practicum at the Sexual Violence Center in Minneapolis where she provided a variety of crisis services, including ongoing therapy. During that time, a realization was made that a lot of the people she met had or developed eating disorders as a means to cope with their trauma.

After starting at TEP, she quickly fell in love with the work, the clients, and the messaging that is part of recovery. Amy uses a direct, strength-based approach and a lot of humor to help navigate the most challenging parts of life, whether it’s building confidence, working on food and body neutrality, challenging diet culture and fatphobia, or creating better boundaries with loved ones. Amy shares her goal is that every client she meets with feels seen, accepted, and most importantly, not judged. In her free time, she is likely reading, watching bad reality tv, baking, or expounding on the virtues of napping.
