  • Anorexia Nervosa: Marked by an overwhelming fear of gaining weight and a distorted body image, leading individuals to significantly restrict their food intake.
  • Bulimia Nervosa: Characterized by cycles of binge eating and purging behaviors, often done in intense secrecy and in response to emotional triggers
  • Binge Eating Disorder (BED): Defined by recurrent episodes of eating unusually large  amounts of food, a sense of a lack of control, and feelings of guilt and shame

At The Emily Program’s Cleveland locations, we also treat disordered eating patterns like compulsive overeating, often seen in bulimia, binge eating disorder, and OSFED. Our care decisions are based on your individual situation—by tailoring treatment to you, we ensure comprehensive care that targets your specific behaviors and helps you reach all of your recovery goals.

Experiential Activities:

Partial hospitalization/intensive day (PHP/IDP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) at The Emily Program include practical activities like cooking, grocery shopping, and dining at restaurants. These experiences help you use the coping strategies you’ve learned in treatment in real-world scenarios.

At The Emily Program, you don’t have to choose between your child’s education and their health and well-being. We include a study hall for adolescents in our PHP/IDP, ensuring they can focus on healing while maintaining their educational progress.

Additional Therapies:

Our program integrates additional methods beyond typical therapy, aiding your recovery by helping you process your emotions and express yourself. These additional therapies include:

  • Expressive Arts: Creating art in treatment and recovery can help manage your anxiety, aid in resolving body image issues, and foster healthier coping techniques. Expressive arts also serve as a non-verbal way for you to safely express, explore, and reflect, aiding in your overall emotional well-being.
  • Movement Therapy: Our Cleveland Outpatient treatment center offers movement therapy, including yoga, stretching, and strength work. These activities can help you improve your mind and body connection and provide a healthy means to handle stress, both of which are essential parts of recovery.
