Amanda Barnhardt (she/her) is the Clinical Director of The Emily Program’s RTP Child, Adolescent & Adult Eating Disorder Treatment Center in Durham, North Carolina. She guides the clinical team by providing oversight of therapeutic programming, supervision, and training.

Amanda is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) specializing in mental health.  She earned her master’s degree in social work at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Amanda also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in women’s studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  

Amanda received her Certification in Clinical Supervision in 2013 from the National Association of Social Workers. She has supervised provisionally licensed clinicians in several behavioral health settings, including intensive in-home services, inpatient and outpatient psychotherapy, and child welfare, as well as during the intake process at The Emily Program. Amanda boasts over ten years of experience working in the adult inpatient psychiatric setting, providing individual, group, and family therapy. She has also practiced outpatient psychotherapy with children and families.

Amanda is passionate about creative, client-centered interventions informed by evidence-based psychotherapy modalities such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
