Staff Spotlight, Neve Patterson

Tell us about yourself!
My name is Neve Patterson (she/her), MSW, LGSW, and I have been at The Emily Program for over a year now as a therapist at the Anna Westin House for Adults (AWH) in St. Paul, MN! I have my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and Licensed Graduate Social Work (LGSW) licensure, and I am working toward my Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work (LICSW) license. I grew up in Minnesota and attended college at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
What does a typical day look like for you at The Emily Program?
A typical day for me at AWH varies so much! Part of why I love my job and working in residential treatment is because each day at the House is always different. I see clients for individual therapy, lead group therapy sessions, hang out with clients and coworkers in community spaces, and provide meal support. I often move around the site to interact and see where I can support!
What motivates you to show up for work each day?
What motivates me to show up for work is the environment, people, and difference we make at The Emily Program. I have gained wonderful connections with my coworkers and clients over the time I’ve worked here, which remind me why I love what I do. Seeing clients progress in their personal development and be a part of their healing journey is motivating.
What piece of advice would you give to those struggling with eating disorders?
If you are questioning your patterns, thoughts, or emotions related to food, body, and/or eating, please talk to someone! You are not alone in what you are experiencing, and there are people who want to help you get back to the life you deserve outside of your eating disorder.
What’s something you’re really proud of?
I am proud of my journey that led me to working here at The Emily Program. I have gained a great education, amazing memories and experiences, and worked through difficulties that showed me what I want to do with my life. It makes it all feel worth it now that I am here, doing this work.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
I love to be with my family and friends! I enjoy traveling to see different cities, going to concerts, reading, and experiencing new adventures while laughing as often as possible.
