Staff Spotlight, Jessica Allison

Tell us about yourself!
My name is Jessica Allison and I am the Nutrition and Culinary Manager and an Outpatient Dietitian at our South Sound, Washington location. I have been with The Emily Program for almost four years in total, working within various levels of care.
Describe the educational path that led you to The Emily Program.
I attended Central Washington University for my undergraduate degree in nutrition and dietetics and went on to complete an internship with The Emily Program and the University of Minnesota’s dietetic program. I already knew the area of work I wanted to pursue was helping those with eating disorders, and I feel very lucky to have been able to align with this early on.
What motivates you to show up for work each day?
I feel very passionate about recovery for all the clients we serve, and seeing their everyday victories is something that motivates me to show up for work. I am constantly inspired by the resilience and perseverance of each of my clients who continue doing such hard work in a thin-obsessed world that tries to undermine it.
What piece of advice would you give to those struggling with eating disorders?
Recovery is not linear, but it is possible and worth it. Take each day and decision one at a time!
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
When I am not working, I enjoy taking sunny walks with my husband and two pups, puzzling, and connecting with friends.
