Intensive Outpatient Program for Binge Eating Disorder in Spokane
Binge eating disorder is the most prevalent eating disorder in the US, affecting an estimated 3-5% American adults. Binge eating disorder can have serious consequences, including cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure/cholesterol, adult onset diabetes, social isolation, anxiety, and depression. However, many of those impacted do not receive treatment.
The Emily Program’s recently launched intensive outpatient program in Spokane, called “IOP2,” is designed to help men and women struggling with binge eating disorder and compulsive overeating develop a healthy relationship with food and body image.
The program provides the skills and support clients need to begin to change their eating, honor their emotions, and treat their body with respect. Programming is three days a week for three hours and includes group therapy and a therapeutic meal. Groups offer our clients the opportunity to develop an understanding of the issue and build the skills necessary to interrupt the thoughts and behaviors associated with disordered eating.
Clients who have completed this program report improved well-being and better mood. For some clients, weight loss may naturally occur as behaviors change, but this it is not intended to be a weight loss program.
The Emily Program offers help for binge eating disorder and compulsive overeating at all of our locations. If you or someone you know is struggling, contact us at 1-888-364-5977 or fill out our online form to take the first step toward recovery.
