A Shout-out to Family and Friends Supporters

A Shout-out to Family and Friends Supporters

Thank you for being a support person. For understanding. For speaking up. For listening without judgment. For learning about a complex illness. For being there to make someone laugh during a tough moment. For just being there.

We know coping with an eating disorder can be difficult for everyone involved. But a supportive community of loved ones helps make recovery all the more possible.

Please remember that we have some resources available to help support our supporters.

  • Take a look at our Guide for Family and Friends. It’s a good place to start as you’re learning how to navigate the world of eating disorders and help your loved one.
  • Come say hello. The Emily Program provides free Family and Friends classes and support groups. Attending these meet-ups can help you get the support you need and introduce you to people to talk to who “get it.” Our groups offer a safe, open forum to listen and be heard. Tell us what’s on your mind, whether it be advice, tips, not-so-successful attempts, or anything in between.
  • Accompany your loved one to a Recovery Night. At these events, speakers candidly share their recovery experiences with a community audience. Speakers include Emily Program staff, former clients, and community members. Recovery Nights are free and open to the public.

THANK YOU for everything you do. You amaze us every day.
