Commitment to Education and Research

We are committed to raising awareness of eating disorders and disordered eating across the community. We are actively engaged in learning more about the genetic, biological, psychological and socio-cultural influences on individuals with eating disorders and their families. We believe in advocating for change in those societal factors that make recovery more difficult. The Emily Program initiates and collaborates on numerous research projects to better understand, promote, and develop high-quality eating disorder prevention and intervention strategies.

The Emily Program offers education and training to a diverse audience through:

  • Expert eating disorders education and awareness seminars across the region in a variety of settings including schools, colleges, medical and dental practices and health and community groups.
  • Advanced training for health professionals.
  • Collaboration with community groups to promote eating disorder awareness.

Internship Opportunities

The Emily Program offers semester, year-long, and summer volunteer internships for undergraduate students interested in gaining experience in the eating disorder field. Undergraduate interns generally work 6-12 hours per week and are involved in a wide range of activities including research, community education, program evaluation, and service delivery improvement. If this type of internship interests you, please complete and submit an Emily Program Internship Application. If you have questions regarding these internship positions, you can get more information at 651.645.5323 or info@emilyprogram.com.

Graduate Level Practicum Positions

The Emily Program offers academic year (September – May) training opportunities for graduate students seeking a therapy practicum in the eating disorder field. As we have a wide array of clinicians providing supervision, we are able to consider applications from students in graduate programs in psychology, marriage, family therapy and social work. Practicum students generally spend 20-40 hours per week involved in various components of the Emily Program.

If you are interested in a practicum position at the Emily Program, please complete and submit an Emily Program Practicum Application.
