The Emily Program develops an individualized plan by combining one or more of the following services:
Individual Psychotherapy
By exploring underlying emotions and interpersonal factors that contribute to an eating disorder, the individual works with our therapist to replace uncontrolled behaviors and negative feelings with a strong sense of self and a positive self-esteem.
Group Therapy and Support Groups
Groups meet to share common experiences to alleviate feelings of shame and isolation. The sharing of common experiences breaks these barriers and inspires self-understanding as each person learns to identify unhealthy patterns and develop healthy alternatives.
Nutritional Evaluation and Counseling
Our registered dietitians help people develop healthy, normal eating patterns through education and behavioral self-management. Nutritional counseling, education and meal planning are tailored to each individual client's needs to help them to interrupt symptom use and regain trust in their body's ability to regulate eating.
Family Therapy
Family therapy sessions explore and improve long-standing patterns of communication between family members. These sessions provide awareness of common issues and roles and help the individual with the eating disorder to recover. Affected family members also receive support.
Medical Services
Our medical providers offer a variety of services including evaluations, lab work, EKGs, follow-up care and acupuncture. Our Physicians and Physicians Assistants see clients on an ongoing basis for eating disorder-related complications. Clients are seen in a relaxed, comfortable setting. Our medical staff offers flexible scheduling and will coordinate each client’s care with other members of their treatment team.
Psychiatry Services
Psychiatrists are a key part of our team and work with individuals regarding consideration of medications that may be incorporated into treatment of the eating disorder or other related conditions. Our psychiatry staff is involved in all Emily Program Intensive Programs in addition to being available for individual outpatient sessions.
Intensive Outpatient Programs
The intensive outpatient programs are designed for clients who require a more structured program to interrupt their symptom use. The programs are flexible and allow individuals to continue their everyday activities such as work or school. The programs includes three or four sessions during the week and a multi-family session on Saturday. The intensive outpatient programs combine group therapy, meals, experiential therapy, meal planning, psychoeducation, and family therapy. Read more about our Intensive Outpatient Programs.
Intensive Day Program
The Intensive Day Program is a full-day outpatient program for individuals needing intensive treatment, support and structure or individuals stepping down from more intensive programming, such as inpatient or residential care. This program meets each weekday for 7 hours and offers a multi-family group on Saturday. The intensive day program combines group therapy, supported meals, nutrition education and counseling, medical management, experiential therapy, meal planning and psychoeducation. Families and support persons are involved in the program through psychoeducation groups, family meals and family therapy. Read more about our Intensive Day Program.
